| Studies of chlordecone use first published in Fruits in 1974 |

Fruits is a scientific and historical database drawing on more than 60 years of investigations on fruits, especially in tropical and Mediterranean areas. The majority of the articles take into account the current concerns of the farmers and establish a link between past and future research. Thus, recently, in two articles that appeared in Fruits in 1974 and 1984, it was possible to rediscover the historical context for the use of chlordecone in the control against the banana weevil. This currently banned organochlorine pesticide is now the cause of serious soil pollution in the tropics.
